You can help by reducing waste, recycling, reusing materials, saving energy and water, planting trees, using sustainable products, participating in clean-up activities, and educating others about climate change.
Waste management involves properly reducing, collecting, sorting, reusing, recycling, treating, and disposing of waste in ways that protect people and the environment.
Why is recycling important?
Recycling reduces the amount of waste going to landfills, helps conserve natural resources, reduces pollution, and allows materials such as plastic, paper, glass, and metals to be reused instead of wasted.
Depending on your local recycling facilities, recyclable materials may include paper, cardboard, glass, metals, and certain types of plastic. Waste should be properly sorted before recycling.
You can reduce waste by buying only what you need, avoiding unnecessary packaging, reusing items, repairing products instead of throwing them away, composting organic waste, and separating recyclable materials.
